'One of 3/4 options': Fabrizio Romano says £47m man is on Ten Hag's list, just a week after Tottenham watched him

Tottenham might fancy their chances when it comes to signing Pau Torres from Villarreal, but they face a challenge from both Manchester United and Chelsea.

Spurs are thought to be keen on signing Torres this summer. The Spanish star has been a star for Villarreal, playing a key role in their success this season in Europe. Indeed, Tottenham are said to have watched Torres last week.

However, if Tottenham are to land Torres, they’ll need to fight off hefty competition. That’s because respected journalist and transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, has named both Manchester United and Chelsea as interested parties.

Taking to his Twitter account, Romano confirmed the interest and mentioned the release-clause of Torres sits somewhere between the £47m and £53m mark.

Torres has been on the radar of English clubs for some time now and Manchester City were credited with an interest in him just before Christmas last year. That interest came after Spurs had already made their thoughts known last summer.

Tottenham are expected to make some big moves in the summer window this time around. Fabio Paratici will be tasked with signing the players Antonio Conte desperately wants. Torres, it seems, is one of the top names on the list for Spurs and their Italian coach.

TBR’s View: Tottenham Fans Would Love Pau Torres

There won’t be many better defenders out there this summer for Tottenham than Pau Torres. This year has shown everyone just how good he is. His form for Villarreal has been outstanding, and it’s little wonder there is so much interest.

Torres is the sort of defender who comes in and makes an instant impact. Tottenham fans have already seen it with Cristian Romero, so the idea of Torres in alongside is one to salivate over.

£50m might be another big outlay. But in reality, it’s likely to be a bargain for one of Europe’s elite defenders.
