'Excellent' player who could be Tottenham's first signing of 2022 once said he's a huge Chelsea fan
Tutto Mercato Web revealed yesterday that Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus are on the verge of reaching an agreement for the transfer of Dejan Kulusevski.
Spurs are yet to sign a single player in this month’s transfer window. There are only a couple of days left now and Antonio Conte will not be a happy man if there are no new faces at the club soon.
Thankfully for the Italian, it looks like Kulusevski will be the club’s first signing of 2022 unless Juventus pull the plug on the deal. The Swede would be a great addition, but it will be interesting to see how Spurs fans will take to him.
Kulusevski, labelled as an ‘excellent’ player by Cristiano Ronaldo, once claimed that he’s a big fan of Tottenham’s fierce London rivals, Chelsea.
Tottenham-linked Kulusevski is a Chelsea fan and has already rejected Conte once
Back in November 2019, when Kulusevski was making a big name for himself in Italy, the Swede took part in a quickfire Q&A on fotbollskanalen‘s Instagram account.
He was asked to name the international club that he has always supported and Kulusevski, without any hesitation, said Chelsea. That may not go down too well with Spurs fans if he ends up joining them in the next two days.
To add to that, the Swede has once already rejected Antonio Conte. Back when he was about to join Juventus, the Italian wanted him at Inter Milan. Kulusevski turned that offer down and explained why later.
He said, as per TalkSport: “[Then-Juventus boss Maurizio] Sarri was nice. He put me at ease. I knew his Chelsea side and his style of play. That’s also why I chose to play for the Bianconeri. With Conte, the movements are different, as is the tactical setup. That was why I had doubts.”

Does it really matter if you’re a Chelsea fan who ends up playing for Tottenham?
Harry Kane and Gareth Bale supported Arsenal as kids and they went on to become two of the greatest players to ever play for Spurs. Frank Lampard supported West Ham before he joined Chelsea and became a club legend as well.
Kulusevski may be a Chelsea fan, but that doesn’t mean he can’t become a star for Tottenham if they sign him this month.
The Swede is a fantastic player. He can play on the right, through the middle and also in attacking midfield. He has all the qualities to become a top player and if he ends up becoming Spurs’ first signing of 2022, Tottenham fans should be really happy.
