According to Spanish outlet Super Deporte, Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon is now a target for La Liga side Levante.

The Welshman, signed by Jose Mourinho in October 2020, was viewed by many as a fantastic addition to the squad. He is extremely talented and it was believed that he would become a regular in the Spurs first team very soon.

However, Rodon has barely featured for Tottenham. The 24-year-old has played a little over 1300 minutes of football in a Spurs shirt since his big move from Swansea 13 months ago.

That’s not enough at all for a player of his age and it is looking likely that he will leave before Monday’s deadline.

Levante in talks to sign Joe Rodon from Tottenham

Levante, who are 20th in La Liga having won just one game all season, are desperate for new signings. Their survival depends on what they can do in the next few days and their boss, Alessio Lisci, has asked his side to sign Rodon.

The report claims that the Spanish club’s preferred option was Simon Deli, who plays his football in Turkey with Adana Demirspor. A deal for the Ivorian even looked imminent at one point, but fresh demands from the Turkish club is causing problems.

As a result, Levante have turned their attention to Rodon and the report claims that the deal is already ‘hot and advanced’.

TBR View:

It is unclear if Levante are looking to sign him on loan or on a permanent deal. If it’s the former, which makes a lot of sense to both parties, Tottenham should ideally look to send him out to an English club.

Rodon, labelled as ‘perfect’ by Mourinho, is more than capable of playing in the Premier League. He’s still only 24 and has the quality to perform at the top level if he’s given regular chances.

Playing in England will also help keep his transfer value in a much better position compared to playing for the bottom-placed side in Spain.

That is why Tottenham should look to loan him out to a Premier League club and Brighton are reportedly keen on his services if Dan Burn leaves them in the next two days. (The Telegraph)
