Young Ethan Nwaneri was one of the stars of the show for Arsenal in their 1-0 pre-season win over AC Milan in Singapore.
Despite joining up late for pre-season, Mikel Arteta decided to start Ethan Nwaneri as his number 10, and the Arsenal youngster certainly didn’t disappoint.
Nwaneri took his Arsenal chance superbly, and Martin Odegaard might already be fearing for his first team spot.
Arteta seems unlikely to drop his club captain any time soon, but at the same time, Nwaneri will also need to play.
It’s either a positive problem or a headache for Arteta, depending on which way you see it, but across a long season, both should get adequate chances to impress.
That being said, Arsenal’s squad is about to get even bigger owing to sporting director Andrea Berta’s latest moves.
Ethan Nwaneri comments on Arsenal’s transfers ‘back home’
TBR Football recently confirmed that Arsenal are set to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP — the Gunners are finally landing a striker.
In addition, Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera will soon be an Arsenal player as well.
And when speaking in an interview after his minutes against Milan, Nwaneri was actually asked about Arsenal’s new arrivals this summer so far.

Nwaneri claimed that the likes of Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga had all been ‘brilliant’ so far.
Interestingly, the 18-year-old was also buoyed by what he’d heard was happening back in north London.
Nwaneri said Arsenal have ‘some more back at home coming’ when speaking about Arsenal’s transfers.
And the youngster might have been referring to Gyokeres and Mosquera, as well as Noni Madueke who is waiting to join his new teammates after a period of rest.
Towards the end of his interview, Nwaneri said: “Yes, I think all the signings we’ve made have been brilliant and sharpening the team and making us even stronger.
“We’ve got some more back at home coming, so we’re ready for them to all come and build together.”
Rodrygo makes more sense than Eberechi Eze for Arsenal
Of course, one would assume that Nwaneri was referring to Gyokeres and Mosquera, but perhaps there are still more deals to come.
TBR Football previously shared that Arsenal would love to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid.
Berta is still on the lookout for a top quality left winger before the new season begins, and the Brazilian certainly fits the bill.
To that end, Arsenal are looking at Eberechi Eze at Crystal Palace as well, but it remains to be seen which one of the two the Gunners will opt for.
Rodrygo is more of a traditional winger, he’d provide a lot more width if he was regularly playing on the left.
But with Eze, Arsenal would be signing a player who can also play as an eight or as a ten in central midfield.
However, given that Nwaneri is already backing up Odegaard and Mikel Merino is on hand to replace Declan Rice, Arsenal might be better served signing a genuine left wing specialist.
