Arsenal’s impressive start to the new Premier League season has come with a new-look squad that has plenty of quality in it.

The Gunners spent heavily over the summer transfer window, with over £250 million invested in eight players to help improve the team.

With injuries hitting Mikel Arteta hard over the past year, these fresh options have brought some extra insurance to his team.

Plenty of these signings have settled in well for Arsenal, with the manager seemingly delighted with new name.

Mikel Arteta happy with Viktor Gyokeres impact at Arsenal

Arsenal signed Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP during the summer, in the hope that he would help solve some issues in the forward areas.

Recent seasons have seen the Gunners criticised for their lack of cutting edge in front of goal, and given the record of the Swedish international, it makes sense why a deal would be pursued.

However, with the goals not quite flowing yet, there are question marks over the striker and whether he will be a success.

According to Graeme Bailey, on the Beyond The Back Four podcast, Arteta seems really pleased with his impact.

He said: “Arsenal are very happy with him and I think they have every right to be. He’s changing what Arsenal are up front and I don’t think their front three has caught up with him just yet.

“He’s running that line really well. I thought he gave City a very tough game. He gave Liverpool a very tough game. Yeah, clearly he’s not there in terms of the goals and where he’s at, at the minute, but I think he’s given them an extra dimension.

“I know Mikel Arteta is delighted with him. He’s a real handful and he’s showing that and I don’t think there’s many worries about him.”

It’s some glowing praise for the star, who is still finding his shooting boots, but has made quite an impact early on.

Viktor Gyokeres will need to put international break behind him

While there are question marks still about his time at Arsenal, there have been concerns for Gyokeres when playing for Sweden.

The striker struggled in matches against Switzerland and Kosovo, which saw his side slump to the bottom of their World Cup qualifying group with just one point.

That saw Gyokeres criticised by the Swedish media, with his inability to control the ball or score adding to their annoyance.

He will have to put that behind him to focus on performing in some big games that are on the horizon.

Arsenal’s match against Fulham will be a key encounter to kickstart a run of form, before a mixture of Premier League, Champions League and League Cup fixtures.

For Gyokeres, it is as good a time as any to start firing in the goals.
