Davinson Sanchez sends one-word message to Bryan Gil after performance against Nice yesterday

Tottenham Hotspur ended their preparations for the restart of the Premier League with a 1-1 draw with Nice.

Matt Doherty continued his fine scoring form with another friendly goal, before Antoine Mendy equaliser just after half-time.

One player who was given another opportunity was Bryan Gil, and he posted on Instagram after the match.

Chances have been very limited for the young Spaniard under Antonio Conte this season.

Gil has played just six minutes of league football this campaign, and has been limited to cameos in other competitions.

This is even more disappointing for the 21-year-old when you consider the injuries Spurs have had to deal with.

There was a point when Conte was without Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Son Heung-min.

Instead of giving Gil a chance, the Italian opted to change formation and play Ivan Perisic in a more advanced role.

Gil impressed against Nice last night, but Conte has been unwilling to give him more competitive minutes, citing his lack of strength.

January could be a very important month for Gil, with his future at the club hanging in the balance.

The winger posted on Instagram last night with the caption, ‘We continue to work for the start of the season. Come on Spurs.’

Davinson Sanchez replied, simply saying, ‘Crack’, which refers to a player being on another level to his teammates.

Gil has featured prominently during the mid-season break with almost all of Conte’s other forward options at the World Cup.

With Harry Kane and Son back, he’ll most likely find himself on the bench again, although he could benefit from Richarlison and Lucas Moura not being fit.

Despite impressing against Nice last night, Gil is most likely to head out on loan next month.

After Conte blocked his move away from the club in the summer, he’ll be desperate to start playing more football.

Diario de Cadiz believe Gil is already in advanced negotiations to join Real Mallorca on loan.

He proved a popular figure during his last spell in Spain, and will hope to replicate that again if the returns to La Liga.
