David Seaman has revealed the one thing that really surprised him about Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

The Italian has become a fan favourite at Spurs after replacing Hugo Lloris last summer. He has been a fine addition – perhaps even Tottenham‘s best signing this season.

David Seaman shares what surprised him about Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario

Tottenham signed Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli last summer for just over £17 million (Sky Sports).

The Italian became an instant fan favourite at Spurs. He has had an unbelievable season and is arguably the biggest reason why Ange Postecoglou‘s side are still in the race to finish fourth.

Not many people had really heard about Vicario before he joined Tottenham. Some Spurs fans were even upset that Daniel Levy went for the cheaper option instead of spending the big bucks on David Raya.

That decision has now been justified, hasn’t it? Vicario has been a huge success and is getting better and better every week.

David Seaman, who knows a thing or two about being an elite goalkeeper, discussed what is the biggest asset a number one needs to have.

The Arsenal legend started with mental strength before claiming you need height and a big frame to be a successful goalkeeper at the top level.

Speaking about players who are tall but don’t really have a big frame, Seaman named David De Gea and then claimed that he was surprised to see Vicario fall into the same category.

“There are a lot like that. Even when I saw Vicario at the (London Football) Awards last week, I was really surprised at how lean they all are,” he said on Seaman Says.

Vicario will be key for Tottenham vs Aston Villa

Tottenham head to Villa Park on Sunday in a game that could have huge implications on who will finish fourth in the Premier League this season.

The exciting thing about this fixture is that both sides usually play a high line. That leaves a lot of space for the attackers to run in behind, which is why we expect plenty of goals.

Guglielmo Vicario will be busy in Tottenham’s goal. Ollie Watkins has been in incredible form and Ange Postecoglou has highlighted his brilliance ahead of the game.

He will surely have chances to score, and if Tottenham are to come out of Villa Park with a win, they need to Vicario to step up and save most of the shots he’ll face.
