Arsenal legend David Seaman has claimed that David Raya got his positioning all wrong when Chelsea’s Mykhaylo Mudryk scored past him on Saturday.
The Gunners came from 2-0 down to pick up a point against the Blues in what was a difficult game to watch for Arsenal fans. Mudryk’s goal from an improbable angle has made a lot of headlines, and Seaman has now had his say.

David Seaman says Arsenal star David Raya was at fault for Mykhaylo Mudryk’s goal
The David Raya vs Aaron Ramsdale debate for the number one spot has divided the fan base at Arsenal, and arguments over the same don’t look like it will stop anytime soon.
Ramsdale didn’t do a lot wrong to lose his place in the side, and that has annoyed a lot of people.
To make things worse, Raya has made quite a few mistakes already in an Arsenal shirt, the latest of which came at Stamford Bridge in a game in which he was extremely poor.
Mykhaylo Mudryk‘s attempted cross somehow managed to fly over Raya’s head and into the back of the net. It was a terrible goal to concede, and Seaman, who knows a thing or two about goalkeeping, has identified the mistake.
He said on the Seaman Says podcast: “When I saw Mudryk’s goal, I was like ‘has he actually tried to say he meant that?’ No chance! The way that you can tell is if you watch them before they hit the ball. If he meant that, at some stage, he has got to have a look where Raya is.
“Raya, for me, I don’t like that position he is in. It’s too far advanced. I know what he’s trying to do, he’s trying to affect that low cross that goes across the six-yard box. But, when you get a little mishit like that, that can really catch you out.
“It didn’t exactly go in the corner, it just went over his head and then into the middle of the goal. That was a bit of misjudgement.”

Aaron Ramsdale vs David Raya
Many Arsenal fans have been arguing that Aaron Ramsdale deserves to be brought back into the side following David Raya’s errors recently.
The Englishman is a fan favourite at the Emirates. He is a magnificent goalkeeper, and an argument can even be made that he is just as good as Raya, which makes many wonder why Arsenal have agreed to pay £27 million to sign him permanently next summer (ESPN).
Arsenal take on Sevilla in the Champions League tonight, and Mikel Arteta needs to make a decision on who will start in goal – Raya or Ramsdale.
We feel Raya should be dropped for Ramsdale to come in. He deserves his opportunity.
