David James urges Arsenal to look at £50m Tottenham target Adama Traore
David James has told Sky Sports News (11.25AM, Tuesday) that he believes Arsenal should look to sign Tottenham-linked Wolves ace Adama Traore.
Traore, 25, has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham. AS say Tottenham are preparing a £35million bid for the Spain international.
But it is some way below the asking price set by Wolves. They want as much as £50million – according to a report from The Athletic.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are likely to be busy on deadline day themselves. Numerous players could go, while Takehiro Tomiyasu could arrive soon.
Asked about Adama going to Tottenham, ex-England goalkeeper James responded. He says Arsenal should sign him – saying he is the “perfect fit”.
“He needs to go to Arsenal,” James told SSN (Tuesday, 11.25AM). “Wolves will look at Tottenham and you can’t take our manager and our star player.
“When Arsenal are looking for players alongside Lacazette or Aubameyang – he is the perfect fit. I think he should go to Arsenal.”
James on Adama: Could Arsenal really rival Tottenham?
It is inredibly unlikely that Adama will be leaving Wolves on Tuesday’s deadline day. Spurs are trying to sign Emerson Royal themselves.
So, getting a deal over the line for Adama on the same say they are paying Barcelona £26million to sign is unlikely. Even if they are bidding £35million.
While that might open up a chance for Arsenal to go after ex-Boro and Barca star Traore – there has been no links between Arsenal and Adama.
Things can change on deadline day and while James may feel he is the perfect fit, Arsenal going for Adama feels out of reach for the Gunners.
