Darwin Nunez says Liverpool sold a player who will thrive away from Anfield, ‘I have no doubt’…

Darwin Nunez has sent a message to a departing Liverpool star and backs him to succeed away from Anfield.

Arne Slot is having the summer of dreams at Anfield. Before the window even really got kicked off, the Reds acquired the likes of Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, before moving to the ludicrous £116m purchase of Florian Wirtz.

Then Hugo Ekitike arrived – and it may not stop there. Alexander Isak is pushing for a Liverpool move, which could materialise before the window slams shut on September 1.

Of course, with so many incomings, others must depart. That includes Colombian winger, Luis Diaz, who the Reds will very much miss.

Darwin Nunez sends a message to Luis Diaz

Diaz joins Bayern from Liverpool this summer, with a £65.5m fee obtained for the 28-year-old. But this won’t be done without a heavy heart from Slot, with Diaz a fantastic player.

This is something his teammate Darwin Nunez has acknowledged, and in a goodbye message to the former Porto man, he claimed he’ll keep “killing it” away from Merseyside.

He wrote on his Instagram story: ‘Little brother, I wish you the best in this new phase. I have no doubt you’ll keep killing it! I’m going to miss you, Luis Diaz. And I love you so much.’

Nunez could also leave Liverpool, with TBR Football revealing that the Saudi Pro League could be the likely destination for the forward, but nothing is confirmed as of yet.

Diaz’s Liverpool goodbye message

Diaz took to social media to fully wave goodbye to Liverpool and their supporters, in a tear-jerker of a post on Instagram.

He wrote: ‘Three years and a half that I’ll treasure forever. I arrived with all the dreams in the world, and I am leaving proud of everything we achieved together.’

‘I have met incredible people, fabulous colleagues, coaches who helped me a lot, and extraordinary fans. Liverpool is, indeed, a special team, and I will keep everyone in my heart. The cycle ends here, and it is so gratifying to look back and realise how happy we were.’

‘Not only because of the trophies we won, but for the union and friendship that made it all possible. There were ups and downs, as there always are, but there was always truth as it should be in a family. It’s good to be leaving with the feeling of a duty fulfilled, and, most of all, to be leaving a champion. It would have been the perfect goodbye if we hadn’t lost one of ours in such a tragic way.’

‘As I said, and I repeat, I carry everyone with me in my heart, but one of them in particular: Diogo. I will never forget him. We will never forget him. Thank you for everything.’
