Danny Murphy so excited to see £37m Liverpool man in action this season

Danny Murphy has admitted he can’t wait to watch Luis Diaz play for Liverpool this season.

Murphy was making his predictions on BBC Sport ahead of the Premier League starting this weekend.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for a better campaign this year after a disappointing outing last year.

Missing out on the Champions League is a big blow and the squad has been a midfield revolution over the summer.

There’s plenty of pressure on Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to hit the ground running given Liverpool’s lack of other options.

What Liverpool fans can get excited about is their attacking prowess this season.

Klopp has a fully fit array of players to choose from and new boys Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo have had more time to bed into the squad.

Murphy believes that Luis Diaz is the Liverpool player he’s really excited to watch.

The £37m winger has already shown glimpses of his potential in pre-season.

Murphy excited about Liverpool star Diaz

Making his predictions about Liverpool’s upcoming season, Murphy said: “I am really looking forward to seeing Alexis Mac Allister for Liverpool but losing Jordan Henderson is a blow.

“For me, he still would have been the first name on the teamsheet.

“They will have to replace his physicality and the dynamism he brings to their midfield – the ability to press well and spot danger.

“I’d certainly expect Liverpool to do more business before the transfer window shuts but the reason I think they’ll be better and back in the top four this time is because they have got brilliant options in the forward positions.

“Having Luis Diaz fit again is like having a new player.

“Defensively, they do need to become more solid but I am expecting them to come out of the blocks fast.”

Diaz has already impressed new signing Dominik Szoboszlai with his performances this summer.

He’s got work on his hands to nail down a regular place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up.

Gakpo, Nunez and Diogo Jota will all be fighting him for a place in Liverpool’s front three.

Diaz is one of Liverpool’s most exciting players when fully fit and Murphy’s opinion on the 26-year-old will be shared by many fans.

If he can stay fit, Diaz could be a game-changing addition to the team this year.
