Cole Palmer given two reasons to worry at Chelsea after £100m man’s flawless international display

Cole Palmer has been Chelsea’s star player since he joined the club in 2023, but after a difficult start to the new campaign, does he now have a reason to worry about his future?

Palmer has attempted to continue his successful run at Stamford Bridge this season, but a groin problem has meant that he’s been unable to get started properly.

While the Chelsea star has scored twice in his four appearances, Palmer is currently sidelined and is set to miss even more games after the international break.

After a flawless performance from a £100million talent during the first international game of this period, Palmer may now have a reason to be worried about his long-term future with Chelsea and England.

Morgan Rogers could displace Cole Palmer at England in the World Cup

Morgan Rogers was back to his best for England against Wales, and his performance will have strengthened his standing in Thomas Tuchel’s eyes.

Rogers’ start to the season at club level has been difficult, with his Aston Villa performances leaving much to be desired.

He has failed to replicate the fantastic form that had the footballing world talking about him from last season, which has led to him being criticised by the likes of Darren Bent.

Despite starting every Premier League game, Rogers hasn’t scored a goal for Unai Emery’s men. But anyone doubting him was silenced tonight as he put together a scintillating performance for England.

Rogers started the game against Wales as England ran riot in the first half to get a three-goal advantage, going on to retain that score and win 3-0.

The Aston Villa playmaker had a key part to play in that, scoring the opening goal of the game in the third minute, while his overall play was strong throughout the game.

He repaid Tuchel’s faith in him with a brilliant performance, and given how much competition there is in the forward areas, it might see Palmer fall further down the pecking order.

Morgan Rogers could also replace Cole Palmer at Chelsea moving forward

It isn’t just at international level where Palmer needs to be worried about Rogers either, as the 23-year-old could be coming for his spot at Chelsea too.

TBR Football has previously revealed that Chelsea are interested in signing Rogers, as they want more competition in the attacking midfield area.

Given Palmer’s injury, it has been clear that the Blues need more strength in depth for that area of the pitch to provide Enzo Maresca with further options.

While Palmer is still going to get opportunities at Stamford Bridge due to his obvious quality, if Rogers does join the club then there’s no doubt he’d give Palmer something to think about.

Aston Villa have valued Rogers at £100million though, so he won’t come cheaply if Chelsea do want to add to their squad.
