Chelsea devise plan for ‘unlocking’ Morgan Rogers signing as Aston Villa show interest in £32m Blues player

TBR Football understands that Chelsea have still not given up on England star Morgan Rogers and believe they can still strike a deal with Aston Villa.

As we have confirmed throughout the summer, Villa have insisted that Rogers is not for sale, and they don’t want to lose the midfielder.

Rogers, for his part, is known to be happy at Aston Villa, signing a new long-term deal late last year despite interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

TBR Football can now confirm what Chelsea have in mind to help bring the signing of Rogers closer to fruition – and they may just have something the Villans want.

Chelsea ready to offer players to Aston Villa as Nicolas Jackson eyed by Unai Emery

Sources with knowledge of the situation have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey that Chelsea are ready to offer players to Villa.

That could be the key to Chelsea unlocking Villa’s stance over Morgan Rogers.

Whilst it is unlikely that it would be a straight swap due to PSR, the Blues would send players to Villa on ‘preferential terms’.

Villa took Axel Disasi last season but he would be unlikely to be part of any talks this time round.

However, defensive colleagues such as Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile – all of whom are available – could be offered.

Midfielder Andrey Santos is also a player that Villa have previously asked about.

However, the one player who Villa have showed an interest in recent days is Nicolas Jackson.

The Senegal striker has been unsettled by the arrival of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, and Villa are one of the clubs, along with Man United, that have been contacted by intermediaries.

We are told that Unai Emery, who worked with the £32million forward at Villarreal, has made it known that he would be interested in working with him again.

We also believe that, whilst Villa insist Rogers is not available, they have done work on Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentine, who has been frozen out at Old Trafford, could also be seen as an ideal replacement for Rogers.

The Chelsea figure eager to land Morgan Rogers amid interest in Manchester United ace

Whilst Arsenal and Liverpool have maintained a watching brief, TBR Football sources have confirmed that Chelsea have maintained their interest in actively chasing a deal for Rogers.

Chelsea’s Co-Director of Recruitment and Talent Joe Shields is a key figure at the club and is understood to be pushing for Rogers, a player he signed during his time at Manchester City.

Shields has played a pivotal role in Chelsea landing talent he has previously worked with, including Cole Palmer and, most recently this summer, with Jamie Gittens.

Now, he could repeat the trick with Rogers.

Chelsea are in the market for a playmaker who can play off the flank and Manchester United’s Garnacho is a player they like – but we understand Rogers would be their preference.
