Club have now told Leeds they can sign 'complete' striker from them for £22m - journalist
Leeds United have now been told they can sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Arnaud Kalimuendo for £22 million, according to football journalist Ben Jacobs.
Reports suggested earlier this week that Leeds had submitted a £16.7 million offer for the player but now it seems that PSG have named their price.
Jesse Marsch has been busy adding new players to his squad this summer but the club are in need of a new striker.
Leeds have also been linked to Stade Rennais forward Martin Terrier but there could be a cheaper alternative for Marsch.
Leeds told they can sign striker
Ben Jacobs reports that PSG have now told Leeds they can sign Kalimuendo for just £22 million.
The French champions new transfer guru, Luis Campos, is ready to sell the 20-year-old but new boss Christophe Galtier is not keen on the decision.
And the Whites will face competition for the France U21 international as Stade Rennais are also interested.
Despite having a successful summer so far after bringing six players to Elland Road, it seems vital that Leeds sign another striker.
Patrick Bamford was ruled out for large parts of last season and Marsch’s men struggled to fill the void he left.
Leeds youngster Joe Gelhardt did step up to the role well and showed great promise, but Marsch will want more depth in the position.
Kalimuendo the ‘complete player’
Kalimuendo spent last season on loan at Lens in Ligue 1 and was dubbed the ‘complete player’ by France U21 boss Sylvain Ripoll after he returned to Paris.
At just 20, Kalimuendo managed 13 goals in the French league last season and impressed during his time there.
But it seems that Galtier is not happy about letting the player leave and if Leeds do match PSG’s asking price for the player, it will be interesting to see if the French side go against their manager’s wish.
The young striker would certainly be a great option for Marsch and would fit the profile as an emerging talent, something that the American boss has shown a preference for this summer.
