Club happy to let 32-year-old leave for free, but they want fee from Everton - journalist

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly willing to let Everton target Idrissa Gueye leave the club on a free transfer, according to journalist Fabrice Hawkins.

However, this is only if Gueye joins one of the two Portuguese clubs interested in signing him.

Hawkins believes that PSG director Antero Henrique will still demand a fee from Everton if Gueye decides to return to Merseyside. “Info @RMCSport FC Porto and Sporting Portugal are also interested in Idrissa Gueye.

“Antero Henrique would be ready to let him go free to these two clubs. For Everton he wants a transfer.”

It’s a blow for Everton who believed they were close to securing Gueye’s signature a week ago.

The Senegalese player was also thought to be ready to take a pay cut to return to Goodison Park.

However, with other clubs now circling, Gueye could use this as an opportunity to negotiate a better deal.

Everton target Gueye could leave PSG on free transfer

Central midfield is an area Frank Lampard has been trying to strengthen all summer.

After bringing in Belgian youngster Amadou Onana from Lille, Everton are still chasing more reinforcements.

The Toffees have been in talks with Manchester United midfielder James Garner.

He would fill the combative midfield role that Gueye has previously played at Everton.

You would expect that Everton will only want to sign one of them considering how similar they are.

Lampard will be hoping they can get a deal done soon, as he believes he could form a brilliant partnership with Onana.

An injury to Abdoulaye Doucoure has made the need for another midfielder for Everton even more urgent.

However, they may not want to continue negotiating for Gueye when he could leave on a free transfer to another club, and might look at a different target for better value.
