Chris Sutton has become the latest to take aim at Mikel Arteta after his rant following Arsenal’s loss to Newcastle this weekend.
Arteta’s explosive comments after the game have caused quite the stir. Arsenal have since backed their manager with a controversial statement and once again, the Gunners boss finds himself at the centre of attention.
Ex players and pundits all seem to have had their say on the matter, with the likes of Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher not quite in agreement with proceedings.
And adding further fuel to the fire, former Celtic and Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has also slammed Arteta for going off on one.
Chris Sutton slams Mikel Arteta for his latest Arsenal comments
Speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast, Sutton admitted he was unimpressed with Arteta.
“Even Arteta letting off steam as he did do, I thought he made himself look like a bit of a clown. I know everybody can say well it’s great and it’s an emotional game, and I get that, but while he’s berating the officials – what about him controlling things that he can control?,” Sutton said.
“What about his insistence to play Havertz? How many more times is he going to give him a chance? What about Raya, flapping at the cross? He can control those things, so while he’s having a pop at the PGMOL and the referee on the day, maybe he should have a look at himself.”

Sutton is never one to hold back with his comments on anything and he’s obviously taken offence to the Spaniard’s comments here.
Arteta is likely to face some sort of action from the FA for such comments, albeit it’s being reported that the PGMOL won’t even give Arsenal the satisfaction of a response.
Arsenal will have been hoping to get the footballing world behind them with their statement.
However, all that seems to have happened is people are turning against them. Once again, Mikel Arteta seems to have overstepped the mark.
In the end, all that’s happening is more pressure is being added to his Arsenal team. And come May, that’s likely to cost them trophies.
