The reputable journalist has reported that Sesko will stay at Red Bull Salzburg for one more season before joining sister club Leipzig: “RB Leipzig are closing on deal to sign Benjamin Šeško for summer 2023! RB Salzburg have rejected the proposal for this summer, Šeško is happy to stay for one more year.”
Sesko has previously been linked with a move to Newcastle, and only today there were claims in the Northern Echo suggesting that the Magpies were preparing to make a formal inquiry for the forward, who they believed could be available for around £42m.
But the Slovenian international is keen to stay in Austria for one more season before joining up with Leipzig, and will follow a familiar path.

New Manchester City signing Erling Haaland, Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan and French international Dayot Upamecano are just three of the players who have moved between the two clubs.
And once again Leipzig have moved to secure another potential world beater before outside influences can poach him from the Austrian champions.
Newcastle miss out on Sesko
The 19-year-old is still very raw, having only played 28 league games in the Austrian top flight in his career.
Sesko has only scored 6 goals in this time, but he’s incredibly highly rated, and the pedigree of strikers that have come through at Salzburg means many top clubs including Newcastle were interested in taking a punt on him.

Sesko isn’t the first forward this summer that Newcastle have missed out on to Leipzig, with Timo Werner also set to sign for the Bundesliga side.
The search for a forward will continue for Newcastle, and one name that has recently been linked is Emmanuel Dennis, who remains a Watford player at this time despite their relegation to the Championship.
