Everton and Newcastle United may have just received a boost in their hunt for a striker, with the Express reporting that Watford’s asking price for Emmanuel Dennis could now be cut.

The Nigerian international was a standout performer for Watford last season after joining from Club Brugge last summer.

The 24-year-old couldn’t prevent the club from being relegated back to the Championship but his performances have caught the eye of Premier League teams, including Everton and Newcastle.

The Express state that Watford want £20 million for Dennis but they may have to lower their asking price in order to entertain bids for the player this summer.

Dennis asking price could now be cut

None of the interested clubs are yet to take Watford up on their valuation of Dennis and although it’s unlikely, he could yet remain at Vicarage Road unless they cut their asking price.

Newcastle are reportedly eyeing a possible move for the Nigerian and is one of Eddie Howe’s options for attacking reinforcements.

While Everton have also shown an interest in Dennis as they look to replace Richarlison after he moved to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.

And both clubs could be tempted to push their interest further if Watford do lower their asking price during the current transfer window.

The Hornets decided they would sell the striker after being relegated last season but are yet to receive any official offers.

Newcastle and Everton could face competition for the striker as well, with the Express reporting that West Ham, Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest have all shown interest in the player.

TBR’s View: Dennis is the perfect Richarlison replacement for Lampard

If Watford do take a lower bid for Dennis, he would be a brilliant signing for both Eddie Howe and Frank Lampard. But he would be more of a coup for the latter as he fits the bill to replace Richarlison at Goodison Park.

Dennis was excellent in a struggling Watford side last season as he managed 10 goals and six assists in the Premier League. He also covers the same positions as Richarlison and would be a direct replacement for the Brazilian for Lampard.

The Nigerian could also be a great addition for Howe as he looks for a forward player to compete with Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.
