Chris Sutton says ‘poor’ Liverpool player has been consistently terrible this season

Liverpool produced a pretty alarming display at Selhurst Park on Saturday and Chris Sutton has highlighted one player who’s been ‘making mistake after mistake’.

Eddie Nketiah scored a stoppage-time winner to defeat Liverpool and extend Crystal Palace’s unbeaten run to 18 matches in all competitions.

The Reds thought they had rescued a point late on through Federico Chiesa, but the Eagles were able to breach their backline rather easily.

Reviewing Arne Slot’s side’s start to the season, Chris Sutton has been rather critical of one of their key players, who has been ‘miles off it’.

Chris Sutton slams Ibrahima Konate’s performances for Liverpool

Sutton has slammed Ibrahima Konate’s performances for Liverpool this season, following his poor display against Palace.

Jean-Philippe Mateta bullied Konate in South London as Liverpool’s defence struggled to contain the Eagles.

Liverpool fans also hammered Konate for his display, and Slot will need to reassess his defensive options to avoid further humiliations.

Sutton told the Monday Night Club: “They just exploited Liverpool defensively. I think that the stuff about Konate, which Rory said, he’s making mistake after mistake. And it’s been, you know, that’s where he’s been consistent at the start of this season.

“You know, I think he’s been a brilliant player for Liverpool, but this season he has been miles off it. And he had a particularly poor game.”

TBR Football understands that Chelsea and Arsenal are monitoring Konate’s contract situation at Anfield, with the Frenchman’s deal up at the end of the year.

The Merseyside club are anticipating significant interest in his signature, but right now, Slot may well be thinking about replacing him.

Liverpool must target Marc Guehi in January

Liverpool missing out on Marc Guehi over the summer is now looking like a huge miss for the Reds, given how good he has been this season.

The 25-year-old even managed to grab the assist for Nketiah’s winner, showing Liverpool exactly what they are missing.
