Report: Chelsea ready to bid for ‘lightning quick’ World Cup forward Liverpool want to sign

Reports in Italy are claiming that Chelsea are now in the mix to sign reported Liverpool and Arsenal target, Dusan Vlahovic.

Vlahovic is said to be on the radar of a number of clubs over in England again. It comes as Juventus are facing off-field problems once again and Vlahovic himself hasn’t been considered the major success the Turin club hoped he would be.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are said to be keen on signing the Serbian, who got himself a goal over in Qatar despite the relatively poor performance of his nation as a whole.

However, according to TuttoJuve, Chelsea are also putting themselves forward as an interested party. Todd Boehly is expected to back Graham Potter going into January and the summer. And with the Blues struggling to find a top number nine in recent seasons, Vlahovic does have appeal.

Lauded as being ‘lightning quick’ by English pundit Micah Richards, Vlahovic caught the eye of PL fans when he was Arsenal’s number one target back in January. He eventually opted against a move to The Emirates, instead signing for Juve in a deal worth around £63m.

Whether or not a deal this January is possible, remains to be seen. However, it seems Chelsea are prepared to put themselves in the conversation at the very least.

TBR’s View: Vlahovic to Chelsea would shake things up

The links with Arsenal and Liverpool seem a bit tenuous at the moment. Liverpool splashed on Darwin Nunez in the summer, while Arsenal would be hard pushed to react so extravagantly to Gabriel Jesus’ injury.

For Chelsea, though, there seems more sense in this sort of move. Vlahovic is someone who plays directly as a number nine and that’s what the Blues have been missing for some time.

This one could very much be reliant on Juve’s off-field issues playing out. But if Vlahovic is available, he’d certainly add a fresh bit of excitement to the top four race.
