Report: Liverpool could now offer up £35m Klopp signing to land 'lightning' quick attacker

Liverpool are being linked with a stunning move for Juventus striker, Dusan Vlahovic, and could even offer up Ibrahima Konate to get the deal done.

That’s according to reports from Italy anyway, with Calciomercatoweb claiming that Jurgen Klopp is desperate to land the Serbian striker. Vlahovic, of course, is well known on these shores following Arsenal’s pursuit of him a few windows back. In the end, the Gunners fell short, with Juve paying more than £60m to sign Vlahovic.

However, CMW claims that Vlahovic is now on the radar of Liverpool. And in a stunning claim within the report, it’s suggested the Reds might even offer the Turin club the chance to take Konate off their hands as part of the deal.

Konate only signed for Liverpool in 2021 when the Reds paid his £35m release-clause. He is thought to be a key part of the future at Liverpool. But CMW claims that Klopp isn’t overly sold on the Frenchman, and might be willing to let him go if it means landing Vlahovic.

Described by Micah Richards as being ‘lightning’ quick, Vlahovic is actually behind Fulham striker Aleksandr Mitrovic in the Serbian pecking order. Indeed, he’s only appeared off the bench once in two games at the World Cup so far.

In recent weeks, Newcastle United have also been credited with admiring Vlahovic’s talents.

TBR’s View: Konate for Vlahovic seems a bit extreme for Liverpool

The interest in Vlahovic is understandable, well to an extent. But the notion of Liverpool letting Konate go as part of any deal seems utterly baffling.

Konate is the future of Liverpool’s defence, and his record speaks for itself when he lines up alongside Virgil van Dijk.

If Klopp isn’t as impressed as it might seem and does let him go, then it would be a huge surprise. Further, adding Vlahovic to the team when you’ve just splashed on Darwin Nunez also seems an odd move.

Hopefully, for Liverpool fans anyway, this is a non-starter.
