Celtic transfer: Club reportedly want 25-year-old Hoops player as their first marquee signing this summer

Celtic are set to be offered the chance to sell Boli Bolingoli in the transfer window, with The Scottish Sun reporting that Altay SK plan to make him one of their first major signings this summer.

It would be little surprise to see Bolingoli move on. The 25-year-old seemed to burn his bridges with the Hoops early on last season.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, he failed to quarantine after returning from Spain. And having not told anyone about the trip initially, Celtic were forced to postpone subsequent games.

He only managed to secure a loan move before that window shut. The left-back joined Istanbul Basaksehir for the campaign.

The move presented Bolingoli with the chance to play in the Champions League. And actually, he impressed some Celtic fans with a display against Manchester United.

However, that appears to have proved to have been the high point for the defender.

He spent a large portion of the season out due to injury. And according to The Scottish Sun, Basaksehir decided not to make the move permanent.

But the good news for Celtic is another Turkish club do plan to register an interest.

The Scottish Sun reports that Altay SK want Bolingoli following their promotion. In fact, it is claimed that they want him as their first high-profile addition.

Celtic unlikely to have any qualms about sanctioning Bolingoli transfer

Of course, Celtic are under new management. So some may have wondered if Bolingoli would get a second chance.

However, it looks to be best for all concerned if a move is agreed.

His actions last season were a terrible error of judgement. And the consequences could have been a lot worse. Thankfully, they were not.

On the pitch, he did not always look the most convincing signing either. So if a club is ready to make a decent bid, surely Celtic will have little problem letting him go.
