Celtic fans discuss reports club are looking at Premier League side's 38-year-old
Celtic are reportedly considering a surprise move to sign Watford veteran Ben Foster. Despite being 38 years of age, the England international is a target for title-chasing Celtic – with Vasilis Barkas continuing to struggle. Celtic fans have given their take on Twitter, and many want him signed.
Foster, 38, only played 23 times for Watford last season as the eight-time England veteran was overtaken by Daniel Bachmann. During the second half of the season, he watched from the bench as Watford gained promotion back to the Premier League. Bachmann remains first choice at Watford.
Sky Sports state that Foster is an option for Celtic this summer, despite 75-time England international and Tottenham star Hart seemingly first choice. Talks are ongoing for Hart, though wages are believed to be an issue. Foster is another goalkeeper of interest to Celtic – with his contract ending in 2022.
Celtic fans react: Foster or Hart?
Of course, Hart is a top, top goalkeeper but many will know about his fall from grace. Starring at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola’s arrival as manager saw the England man fall down the pecking order. He has since spent time on loan at Torino and West Ham, before a tricky spell with West Ham.
At Tottenham, he is now third choice. While the belief is that if he is made first choice and plenty of confidence is placed in his ability, he could get back to his previous form – is he an expensive risk, given his wages? Some Celtic fans think so, and many would rather Foster is signed from Watford.
