Celtic could help Liverpool and Santo land 'fantastic' Euro 2020 star - TBR View
The transfer window is getting firmly into its swing now, with Ryan Christie the latest player to be linked with a move away from Celtic.
The Daily Record have suggested that Italian side Sampdoria are a potential destination for Christie, who is yet to sign a new deal with the Scottish side.
Christie is expected to leave. It puts Celtic in a tricky situation, and it’s one that could lead to them cashing in this summer. Sampdoria’s interest is a surprise, but the Scot has attracted admiring glances from abroad before.
But while all eyes from a Celtic point of view will be on what the club do with Christie, interest from Liverpool and Spurs could also enter the fold.
And that’s not in the form of them signing Christie. More, the fact that both Premier League clubs are said to be keen on current Sampdoria star, Mikkel Damsgaard.
Of course, the thought of Christie going to Sampdoria and leaving the door open for Damsgaard to leave is all ifs and buts.
However, it would make sense for the Italians to get someone in who can at least have a go at replacing the Dane. Indeed, Christie actually scored and assisted more than Damsgaard last season.
The Dane only managed two goals, with Christie hitting five. Interestingly, in the 19/20 campaign, the Scot hit double figures in both goals and assists.
That shows his credentials, in terms of contributing in attacking areas.
A move to England would appear to be on the cards for Damsgaard. He’s just 21 and after an excellent Euros, has the world at his feet it seems.
Kasper Schmeichel thinks the midfielder is ‘fantastic’, praising the youngster for stepping up in the face of the Christian Eriksen nightmare.
Liverpool and Spurs are both huge clubs as well. Both want new faces this summer, and both like to get young players in who they can develop and improve further.
Damsgaard ticks so many boxes. It goes without saying, then, that should Sampdoria indeed land Christie, then both the Reds and Spurs will be on red-alert as to the availability of Damsgaard.
