Report: In the last few hours Liverpool and Everton have come in to sign £40m star of Euro 2020
Liverpool and Everton have both emerged as contenders to sign Mikkel Damsgaard in ‘the last few hours’, Calcio Mercato report.
Damsgaard has shone at Euro 2020, and his performances seem to have caught the eye of both Liverpool and Everton.
The Italian source say that both clubs have joined the race for the £40 million winger (Calcio Mercato), who is now expected to move to the Premier League from Sampdoria this summer.
Damsgaard actually was the scorer for Denmark in their recent defeat to England, to round off what was a wonderful tournament for him.
The 20-year-old was Denmark’s brightest talent as they made their way to the semi-finals.
If he was to join Liverpool it seems likely that he would initially be used as a rotational player.
But Damsgaard could turn out to be a long-term replacement for the likes of Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah, who are both advancing in years.
Everton, meanwhile, would likely see Damsgaard as a permanent starter from the moment he arrived.
If Rafael Benitez could line up with an attacking quartet featuring Dominic Calvert-Lewin, James Rodriguez, Richarlison and Damsgaard then he would have the forward options to rival most sides in the Premier League.
And the latest rumours are sure to excite fans right across Merseyside, after Damsgaard’s strong Euro’s.
