Tony Cascarino believes that West Ham United manager David Moyes needs to be playing Gianluca Scamacca more regularly.

Speaking on TalkSPORT (9/10 8:57am), Cascarino was lauding West Ham’s new striker.

Scamacca has started to find his feet at the London Stadium, and has been impressive in the Europa Conference League.

The 23-year-old forward already has four goals in Europe, and scored the winner on Thursday against Anderlecht.

Scamacca arrived from Serie A side Sassuolo for £35.5m in the summer, and has been working his way back to full fitness.

Moyes admitted that Scamacca had a nasty virus that affected his availability for two or three weeks.

However, the giant Italian is now ready to make his impact at West Ham.

Cascarino: Time for Scamacca to play much more regularly

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Cascarino said: “Yeah, he (Scamacca) seems to be chipping in now, and getting up to speed with what the Premier League demands.

“He’s a huge man, he’s a big lad and can really cause problems. He’s good technically, it’s time for him to play much more regularly now.”

Scamacca has started just a quarter of West Ham’s league games this season.

He scored his first league goal last weekend with a fantastic volley against Wolves.

Captain Declan Rice wasn’t surprised by his impressive finish, saying he’s one of the best ball strikers he’s ever seen.

Michail Antonio has admitted that Scamacca ‘looks quality’ in training, although he’ll be hoping he doesn’t play too well as they battle for a starting spot in Moyes’ side.

Scamacca next opportunity to play could come this afternoon against Fulham.

The Hammers have a fantastic record against the newly promoted side when playing at home.

It’s another chance for Moyes to put his faith in the 23-year-old.

If Scamacca can impress today, he’s likely to be playing much more regularly in the future.
