Jack Wilshere returned on talkSPORT after a while yesterday and the Englishman had his say on Arsenal’s reported pursuit of Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus.

The Gunners have to sign a new striker this summer and they’ve been linked with plenty of big names already. From Victor Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez in Italy to Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the Premier League, the rumour mill has generated a number of possibilities.

However, the striker who has most been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer is Jesus, who looks almost certain to leave Manchester City before the end of the summer transfer window.

Wilshere believes that it’s a huge possibility that Arsenal will sign the Brazilian – all thanks to Mikel Arteta.

Jack Wilshere says Arsenal have a big chance to sign Gabriel Jesus

Speaking on talkSPORT about Jesus yesterday, Wilshere said: “He has a year left on his contract?

“They could get him cheaper if they hold out. I’ve done that before (run down my contract) – you get more money that way, it’s a fact. That’s why the players do it. I think they will be queuing up (for Jesus).

“I think Arsenal will have a big chance of signing him because of his relationship with his manager.

“I think Newcastle would go for him. But I would love to see him at Arsenal.”

Missing out on Champions League football was a massive blow for Arsenal. Every top player in the world wants to play in Europe’s most prestigious club competition, and Jesus is no different.

However, Arsenal really do have a strong chance of signing the £50 million-rated Brazilian thanks to Arteta’s relationship with him.

The two worked together on a daily basis when the current Arsenal boss was Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City. They know each other really well, and the Gunners manager’s convincing skills may well do the trick in the coming days.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out this summer, but the one thing that’s certain is Jesus would be a sensational signing for Arsenal.
