Numerous players with Premier League experience are currently free agents after the transfer window closed, and Ben Foster believes one former Tottenham Hotspur player should get snapped up.
Tottenham signed the likes of Xavi Simons and Mathys Tel during the summer transfer window, in what was a busy period for the club, but with several incomings, there were also some outgoings.
With Thomas Frank replacing new Nottingham Forest boss Ange Postecoglou in charge of Tottenham, it’s no surprise that certain players were moved on due to a difference in style.
However, while new clubs signed players like Son Heung-Min, one former squad member is still without a team at this stage in the season.

Ben Foster believes Fraser Forster is a ‘gimme’ for Premier League clubs
There are numerous notable names without a club right now, from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Christian Eriksen, but two goalkeepers have caught his attention in Scott Carson and Fraser Forster.
The two experienced shot-stoppers are without clubs right now, but during The Football Fill-In podcast, Foster believes they should both be getting signed up by teams in the Premier League.
“I don’t understand why they don’t have a team already. Scott Carson and Fraser Forster, for me, seem like the easiest choices in the world.
“Because you’ve got to get that English core, that British homegrown talent, that’s your third-choice goalie straight away. They’re just absolute gimmes, [they] tick boxes.”
Premier League clubs must have a minimum of eight homegrown players in their squad, even if they’re not part of the starting line-up weekly.
Having a third-choice goalkeeper take up one of those spots is often seen as an easy way to help meet the quota, as the person in that spot rarely gets game time unless there are injuries and suspensions.
Fraser Forster has ample experience in the Premier League
Forster is currently without a club after his time at Tottenham ended, but the shot-stopper has plenty of experience to offer another Premier League club.
While Carson might be at the end of his football career, at 37, Forster certainly has something left in the tank to offer a new team.
| Fraser Forster Career Statistics | Games Played | Clean Sheets | Goals Conceded | Red Cards |
| All Competitions | 489 | 479 | 207 | 4 |
Whether as a second or third-choice goalkeeper, Forster’s experience would be a strong addition to any squad in the Premier League and would help meet the British quota.
Forster has played for Tottenham, Celtic, and, most notably, Southampton throughout his career, but three games into the new campaign, he’s still without a new team.
