Michael Brown has given his verdict on speculation linking Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier with Bayern Munich.
The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has also said that he did not think that joining Newcastle was the right move for Trippier.
So, what has Michael Brown said about Kieran Trippier? Let’s take a look.
Michael Brown comments on Kieran Trippier rumour
Well, Kieran Trippier has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the January transfer window.
Sky Sports have reported that reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern are keen on signing former Tottenham Hotspur right-back Trippier.
The report has claimed that Newcastle have turned down an improved offer from the Bavarian giants for the right-back. The Magpies do not want to sell the 33-year-old.
Former Spurs player Michael Brown has given his take on the future of Trippier.

The BBC Sport pundit has said that a switch to Bayern would see the England international further his career, adding that when he joined Newcastle, he did not think that it was the right move for Trippier.
Trippier has been on the books of Newcastle since January 2022 when he made the switch from Atletico Madrid.
Brown said about Trippier to Bayern rumour on BBC Radio 5 Live: “It is gathering momentum. I believe it’s true. I was doing a little bit of digging earlier. I believe they want to take him, that’s for certain.
“I know you will say that we obviously hear sometimes, well, there is a bid, there is a bid, there is a bit of interest, but we are never sure, but it will be some move for him.
“I am not sure he invited it straightaway. I think he has been incredible for Newcastle, but when he went there, I was not sure that was the correct move for him, to be honest.
“I think it would be a great move for him to go and further his career, but at this point, for Newcastle, it would be the last thing they want and you can understand why they are turning this down.”
My View: Newcastle should not sell Kieran Trippier
In my opinion, Newcastle United should not sell Kieran Trippier in the January transfer window.
Trippier is 33 years of age, so Newcastle are not going to get a massive transfer fee for him. He is under contract at the Premier League club until the summer of 2025.
True, the England international has not been at his best this season, but we know that he is a very important player for the Magpies and is a leader.
If Newcastle are to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, then they need to keep hold of players such as Trippier.
