Newcastle United are currently involved in a transfer saga involving Magpies star Kieran Trippier.
Over the past few days, the Newcastle defender has emerged as a target for Bayern Munich.
On Tuesday, some more updates involving the Magpies, Bayern and Trippier began doing the rounds.
For instance, Florian Plettenberg reported on X that Newcastle received a new, improved bid for the 33-year-old.
However, Alex Crook of talkSPORT subsequently reported that the Magpies rejected Bayern’s £12.8million offer.

Now, Luke Edwards of The Telegraph has provided an update about Trippier’s stance about a prospective move as of last weekend.
The journalist, writing on X, has claimed that Bayern are trying a “big club flex” with a second bid that they knew Newcastle would reject.
The reason? According to Edwards, they hoped it would “unsettle player enough to push for move”.
Over the weekend, Trippier told Newcastle that he wants to stay, said the reporter.

Newcastle are in for a real transfer battle here, with Bayern seemingly very intent on getting their man this month.
It’s good to hear that Trippier told the Magpies at the weekend that he wanted to stay, but the Bavarians are trying to turn his head.
Let’s hope this transfer saga comes to nothing, because Trippier has been a key player for Newcastle ever since his move from Atletico Madrid.
Admittedly, he did suffer from a downturn in form earlier this season, but he was great in the Magpies’ meeting against Manchester City last time out.
Newcastle need to do all they can to keep Trippier at St James’ Park for the foreseeable future.
