Bayern Munich are interested in singing RC Lens defender Kevin Danso – a player who once admitted he dreamed of playing for Arsenal as a youngster.

The Bundesliga giants look set to miss out on a move for Genoa’s Radu Dragusin as Tottenham close in on a deal for the defender.

Indeed, Florian Plettenberg claims Spurs have reached a ‘full agreement’ with Genoa for the Romanian, with Bayern yet to submit an official offer.

And Fabrizio Romano claims that Bayern could now switch their focus to a player who has faced Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side in the Champions League this season.

Bayern keen on Danso signing after Dragusin blow

Romano took to X on Tuesday morning and claimed that Danso has been added to Bayern’s list of centre-back targets.

He wrote: “Bayern add Kevin Danso to their centre-back shortlist as Radu Dragusin gets closer to Tottenham move after official bid sent today.

“Danso was already on Bayern list last summer but then he signed new deal at Lens. He’s again an option explored by Bayern.”

Danso has been ever-present for Lens this term and was part of the side which beat Arsenal 2-1 in the Champions League back in October.

The 25-year-old played the full 90 minutes in what was a historic win for the Ligue 1 outfit.

Yet, he also played the full game in the return fixture as Lens were thrashed 6-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

Danso has made no secret about his love for Arsenal in the past, admitting he dreamed of playing for the Gunners as a youngster.

“Yes of course [it’s a dream to play in the Premier League],” he told L’Equipe back in October.

“When you’re young and in England, you only think about the Premier League. That was it, Barcelona, Real or Bayern, given my origins.

“And if I could have, for one of my brothers, it would have been Arsenal.

“He even always wanted me to support them, even though I was a [Manchester] United fan like my big brother.”

Following a humbling defeat in North London, Danso also claimed that Arteta’s side could go on to win the Champions League.

The £26 million-rated Lens star is yet to be linked with a dream move to the Emirates but is now attracting interest from another European giant in Bayern.

It will be intriguing to see how this one plays out, especially if Bayern do miss out on Dragusin. But it would be a surprise to see Arsenal move for Danso, despite his obvious desire to play for the Gunners.
