25-year-old Lens star claims Arsenal can win the Champions League after playing against them yesterday

Kevin Danso has issued his verdict on Arsenal after Lens were thrashed 6-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday night, while he also responded to being asked whether Mikel Arteta’s men can now go on and win the entire competition.

Danso was speaking to beIN Sports after the Gunners wrapped up top spot in their group in some style. Arsenal had six different goalscorers to blow the Ligue 1 side away at the Emirates.

Certainly, Kevin Danso will have easier nights at the office. Danso helped Lens to a win in the reverse fixture. But Arsenal most definitely avenged that defeat against Lens this week.

Kevin Danso asked if Arsenal can win the Champions League

Arsenal are one of four sides – along with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester City – to have wrapped up top spot in their group with one game to go. It must be noted that the three other sides have won the Champions League since the Gunners were previously in the competition.

So will Arsenal add their name to the list this season? Danso suggested that Lens came up against one of the best around right now. And he went on to respond to being asked whether the Gunners can go on and win the whole thing.

“I think today Arsenal were just the better team on the day. If you don’t turn up, I don’t think we turned up as much as we could have, but they are one of the best teams in the world at the moment and we saw that today. Three quick goals in succession and that breaks the camel’s back,” he told beIN Sports.

“I mean if they play like today definitely. But there is a lot of good teams in this competition. You have to take it game by game and day by day but I wish them nothing but the best,” he added, when asked about Arsenal’s chances.

Gunners have more gears to find

It is odd to say after a 6-0 win, but Arsenal have not yet found their best form. They have won a number of games 1-0 this season. And they needed a late Kai Havertz goal to edge the game against Brentford at the weekend.

That is a frightening thought for the Gunners’ rivals at home and abroad. Arsenal have more gears to find.

Certainly, Arteta’s side will be one of the teams others now fear getting in the draw for the last 16.
