Mathys Tel’s potentially impending loan move to Tottenham Hotspur has become the biggest shock to emerge on deadline day.
Ange Postecoglou has “convinced” Tel to sign for Tottenham on loan until the end of the season — giving Spurs supporters another reason to back him as the Bayern Munich striker had initially turned down a move.
Additionally, Harry Kane reportedly persuaded Tel to sign for Tottenham as well, which highlights how much he still adores his boyhood club.
Tottenham’s loan fee to sign Tel is £6.5 million as the 19-year-old could now have the chance to become a key part of the Lilywhites’ attack.
Mathys Tel certainly has a point to prove when his move to Spurs is confirmed.

Bayern Munich sign Mathys Tel replacement as he nears Tottenham move
The North Londoners’ keenness to the youngster comes as no surprise as Tottenham always intended to “go big” for Tel.
Tel’s imminent move to Tottenham has garnered praise as well as it looks like a brilliant deal for both parties.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Bayern Munich are set to recall Gabriel Vidovic from Mainz as soon as the young forward’s loan move to Ange Postecoglou’s side is completed.
Vidovic is “set to” return from his loan spell shortly.
Tel rejected Eintracht Frankfurt before Tottenham, despite the German side sitting third in the Bundesliga currently — which would bring a smile to Daniel Levy’s face. Tel, who was lauded by Owen Hargreaves due to Tottenham’s strong relationship with Bayern after having sold Kane and Eric Dier to them.
Mathys Tel undergoing Tottenham medical ahead of loan move
Tel is undergoing his medical at Tottenham before his loan switch is finalised.
Fabrizio Romano stated: “Mathys Tel decided to accept Tottenham. All the other clubs were also offering this opportunity, Man United and all the others, but Mathys Tel had the feeling that at Tottenham he can play, he can have the opportunity to be an important player every single week.”
“So that’s why he said yes. He is in London right now, having his medical, and then he will become a new Spurs player.”
Kane feels Tel should prioritise game time at this stage of his career and judging by Romano’s revelation that the highly-rated goalscorer believes he could play plenty of regular football at Tottenham.
With that being the case, Spurs’ last-minute swoop for the Bayern wonderkid could prove to be a masterstroke.
