Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on their first signing on deadline day.
The North Londoners have had a very difficult transfer window. Spurs fans have had to be extremely patient as nothing really happened in the first four weeks.
Antonin Kinsky was the only player who was signed by Tottenham in January, while Kevin Danso was announced on Sunday – two days into February.
Now, Spurs are on the verge of making their third signing of this window.
Fabrizio Romano says Mathys Tel is having his Tottenham medical
The Mathys Tel transfer saga has been a crazy one for Tottenham fans.
After the Bayern Munich man became available for a transfer in the final days of the window, Spurs immediately showed interest and were ready to sign him.
However, Tel rejected a move to Spurs as he wasn’t keen on a permanent deal.
After moves to Manchester United and Arsenal failed to materialise, Bayern became open to a straight loan deal, and Tottenham were back in the hunt.
Tel, after speaking to Harry Kane, accepted Tottenham, and he left Munich for London a few hours ago to complete his transfer.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tel is in London and is undergoing his medical ahead of sealing a loan move until the end of the season.
He said on GiveMeSport: “Mathys Tel decided to accept Tottenham. All the other clubs were also offering this opportunity, Man United and all the others, but Mathys Tel had the feeling that at Tottenham he can play, he can have the opportunity to be an important player every single week.
“So that’s why he said yes. He is in London right now, having his medical, and then he will become a new Spurs player.”

What will Mathys Tel bring to Tottenham?
Tel has struggled for game time at Bayern Munich this season.
The German giants have Harry Kane up front, and anyone below him in the pecking order was always going to miss out on regular minutes.
However, at Tottenham, Tel is likely to play a lot of games because Spurs have the likes of Dominic Solanke, Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert all injured at the moment.
Tel, hailed as an ‘extraordinary’ talent by Thierry Henry, will bring serious versatility to Spurs – he can play anywhere across the front three, and Ange Postecoglou’s attacking system will really suit his style.
If Tel can find his feet at Tottenham, he could change their fortunes.
