Given Arsenal almost sacrificed the January window this season, it’s going to be interesting to see who Mikel Arteta targets this summer.

It’s not always the case in the Premier League, but it seems Arteta is keen to potentially recruit players from clubs in his own league.

Arsenal have been credited with serious interest in Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz in the past, two fine additions.

However, they are also said to have long-standing interest in some other Premier League names.

And via a statistic shared by Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, two of those targets are included in the top seven fastest players in the league.

MNF shared a graphic displaying the top speeds recorded in Premier League games this season in km/h.

And whilst Arsenal fans may not be too interested to hear Spurs’ Micky van de Ven was in first place at 37.38 km/h, they may be intrigued to hear where both Pedro Neto and Amadou Onana ranked.

According to this data, Neto was third fastest in the league, clocked at 36.86 km/h, whereas Onana was in seventh place at 36.65 km/h.

And in fairness, that’s probably a good reason why both are considered Arsenal targets ahead of this summer.

There’s of course a lot more to both of their games than just speed, but it certainly helps in transition.

In truth, Arsenal fans would probably like to sign all four of the names mentioned in this piece, they’re all players who would improve Arteta’s squad.

But perhaps Luiz and Toney would remain the most crucial additions, even if Neto may be the most exciting in the eyes of some.

As said, it will be very interesting to see how Arteta approaches this coming summer, and who Arsenal target.

It definitely seems possible that The Gunners will look domestically, it certainly didn’t put them off when pursuing Kai Havertz.

That being said, there’s player with a considerable reputation in Europe who is considering a move to Arsenal.
