Arsenal transfer news: Gabriel Magalhaes now a January transfer target for Juventus
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will want to make his sure his squad is in the best position possible at the end of January.
The Gunners are currently well ahead of their rivals in the battle to win the Premier League.
The most high-profile transfer saga of the window has ended, but not in the way anyone expected.
After months of negotiations, Chelsea ended up hijacking Arsenal’s move to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk.
The Ukrainian winger signed an eight-and-a-half-year deal at Stamford Bridge over the weekend.
Arsenal will invariably look at other targets before the window shuts, but will have to act quickly.
January could also be a good opportunity for Arteta to move some players on from his squad.
Cedric has been linked with a move away from club, while Arthur Okonkwo has joined a new team on loan.
CalcioMercato now believe that Juventus want to sign Gabriel Magalhaes in January.
It would be an ambitious effort from the Italian side to try and buy him from Arsenal midway through such an important campaign.
Juventus want to sign Gabriel in January
The report suggests that Juventus’s new board of directors takes charge on Thursday, and they want to make an immediate impact.
They believe Juventus are looking at a number of centre-backs and Gabriel is one of them.
However, they also say that the ‘margins for manoeuvre are very limited’, meaning Juventus are unlikely to have much money to spend.
The £50,000-a-week defender has only just signed a new deal at The Emirates, and it would not be a surprise to see him reject an approach from Juventus.
Arsenal could achieve something incredible this season, and he’s a key part of that project.
Gabriel’s partnership with William Saliba has been the foundation on which Arsenal have built so many good performances this season.
It’s no wonder Juventus want to sign Gabriel in January, particularly as he was named in the Premier League Team of the Year.
There were previous reports that Arsenal could demand Dusan Vlahovic in exchange for the defender.
However, the likely outcome of this interest is Juventus looking elsewhere, and Gabriel staying at The Emirates.
