‘A complete non-starter’: Arsenal fans told ‘world-class’ player won’t be moving to The Emirates any time soon

Arsenal fans might be disappointed to hear that the Gunners will not be among the clubs trying to sign a certain Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Mbappe has been in the headlines this week with yet more fallout at PSG. It’s believed the French striker wants out of the club, and that has put Europe’s elite on alert. The striker signed a massive new contract in Paris this summer where he was handed more control at the club. However, he’s had multiple fall outs since that deal and could now move away.

However, while the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid and others have been touted as possible destinations, journalist Ben Jacobs believes that one club who won’t be involved are Arsenal.

“Other clubs, Arsenal are not in the race for Mbappe. They would not seriously entertain any kind of offer or bid for him, that one is a complete non-starter. And Newcastle, as I mentioned is another possible destination in the sense that PIF want a marquee signing. But there’s absolutely nothing in it at the moment,” Jacobs said on the Football Terrace.

The Gunners have not been shy of spending in recent transfer windows but a move for Mbappe would take some doing by the club. He is believed to be around £1m a week, so even that element would put most clubs like Arsenal out of the race.

TBR’s View: Arsenal Don’t Need Mbappe Anyway

Look, any club would love a player of the talent of Mbappe. But right now, Arsenal are building their own method and way of doing things and Mikel Arteta will be content.

Sure, if he could get Mbappe he might be open to it. But it’s a non-starter really as Jacobs says.

The good thing for Arsenal here is that it does leave them free to go for other players if clubs are distracted by the Mbappe news.
