Arsenal reportedly eyeing 'phenomenal' £8m player, he'd be ideal cover for Gabriel Jesus - TBR View
Arsenal coaches and fans alike will be sweating over the news that Gabriel Jesus has been ruled out of the World Cup.
The Gunners striker sustained a knee injury and underwent a MRI scan on Saturday morning, as per BBC Sport.
In a statement, Brazil’s football association said it’s impossible for Jesus to participate further at the tournament.
It is unknown whether Jesus will remain with Brazil in Qatar or return to Arsenal for further treatment.
Nonetheless, the Gunners need to start looking for reinforcements whether it’s a minor or major injury.
If reports are true, a solution could be available for less than £10million.
Arsenal have recently been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach and France forward Marcus Thuram.
According to Milan Live, the Gunners are battling a number of European sides to sign the 25-year-old.
And 90Min recently reported that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Thuram in action in recent weeks.
With his contract running out at the end of the season, the Gunners could potentially snap him up for a bargain fee.
Journalist Nico Schira recently claimed that Gladbach are willing to allow Thuram to leave in January for around £8million.
Ticks plenty of boxes for Arteta
The Frenchman is a versatile and prolific forward who could cover for Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.
As per Transfermarkt, Thuram has split his time at Gladbach almost evenly between centre-forward and left wing.
The ‘world-class‘ attacker has also covered on the right flank and as a second striker.
The only real concern for Arsenal would be the amount of competition they’d be up against for Thuram’s signature.
But with Jesus’ injury status unknown at present, the Gunners really ought to go all out for the Bleus ace in January.
