Arsenal fans urge player to rejoin club, respond to his Tweet after Monday display
Aaron Ramsey laid on the winning assist as Wales beat Estonia 1-0 away from home – and Arsenal fans reacted to his Tweet, desperate for his return. The 30-year-old started and captained his side in a crucial 2022 World Cup qualifier – his 68th Wales cap. Rob Page’s side took the lead early on.
A corner from Leeds winger Dan James was not dealt with by Estonia, and a header from Ramsey was then prodded into the net by Kieffer Moore. Arsenal youngster Karl Hein was in goal for Estonia and he pulled off some excellent saves to keep the score at 1-0. But that was the way it ended.
A brilliant win for Ramsey’s Wales, who before the match were ruing their 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic. A win would have seen them go ahead of the Czechs, who sit in second on level points – but having played a game more. Belgium are out in front, with Belarus and Estonia out of the running.
Ramsey after Wales beat Estonia
Ramsey was eventually taken off after 80 minutes. Despite being the best player on the pitch – in the absence of Gareth Bale – Ramsey’s lack of game time at Juventus is catching up with him. This season, he has started just one game – Juve’s opener, a 2-2 draw with Udinese.
He has since only managed four appearances all season. The start against Udinese, and three substitute outings – culminating in a total of just 106 minutes. He has played far more during his two appearances for Wales in the international break. No surprises, then, that he was taken off.
But it was a brilliant performance and perhaps a reminder to Premier League clubs, that, Ramsey can still do it. A report from CalcioMercato states that Newcastle’s new owners are keen – while Everton and Crystal Palace could also make a move. Juve want to sell him as soon as possible.
They are desperate to rid themselves of his hefty £115,000-a-week wages – in order to free up some room in the market for Max Allegri. Ramsey is hardly even on the fringes and getting his wages off the list will help Juventus going forward. Ramsey himself spoke about his future this week.
What do Arsenal fans think about Ramsey, should he come back?
Arsenal, meanwhile, are discovering their new identity under Mikel Arteta. Criticised for the perceived over-spending in the transfer market, those additions are now coming good. Martin Odegaard, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Aaron Ramsdale are now all established starting players.
A double pivot of the more-experienced Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka, subsided by the raw ability of Emile Smith-Rowe, Odegaard and Bukayo Saka gives Arsenal a rigid, yet exciting approach. The defence looks neat and tidy, with all players below the age of 25.
However, Arsenal fans are always wanting more and many have responded to Ramsey’s Tweet. A player that played 371 times for the Gunners, having a hand in 130 goals during his stint in North London. Many are desperate to see Ramsey return to The Emirates, despite his injury-prone reputation.
