Report: Newcastle join Crystal Palace and Everton in race to sign Welshman
CalcioMercato report that Newcastle United have joined Crystal Palace and Everton in the race to sign Juventus and Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
Ramsey, 30, has endured an indifferent spell in Italian football since swapping Arsenal for Juventus in 2019. He has played 69 times for Juve.
While he produced a huge 130 goal involvements in 371 games for Arsenal – he has managed just 12 for Juve. Only 34 outings have been from the start.
The ex-Cardiff midfielder is said to be keen on a move back to the Premier League. Juve want rid of his £115,000-a-week wages as soon as possible.
Clearly, he is still appealing to Premier League clubs. During his time at Arsenal, he clocked up 91 goal involvements in 262 Premier League games.
Newcastle eye Ramsey: Which club is best, Toon, Palace or Everton?
Newcastle are being linked with numerous players. But if they are to make a big-name signing, for a player likely to go up, Ramsey is very likely.
The Toon certainly need a progressive midfielder that can combine the midfield and attack. One that can play as an eight or a 10.
Joe Willock’s form has not been what it was last season, and having an Arsenal icon to learn from will certainly help bring the best out of him.
He would fit right at home at Newcastle. At Palace, it does not really fit with their ethos – though Patrick Vieira might be a fan, given his Arsenal past.
At Everton under Benitez, he would compliment a midfield that boasts the in-form Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan. Ideal for Newcastle, though.
