Arsenal fans react to reports suggesting move for Martin Odegaard

A report emerged yesterday courtesy of Spanish outlet AS that claimed Arsenal were set to bid for Martin Odegaard this summer.

The 22-year-old was on loan at the Emirates Stadium for the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.

He registered four goal contributions but was largely impressive for the Gunners.

Now, it would seem as though Arsenal have eyes to sign him again ahead of the next campaign.

Odegaard will have two years to run on his contract in the summer and the Gunners are set to test the water.

Celtic strike Premier Sports deal - is this the "additional value" we've been waiting for?

The Norwegian earns £80,000-a-week at the Bernabeu and a permanent deal could be expensive.

With European football not on the agenda for next season, signing Odegaard could be deemed a coup, however.

Supporters certainly think so. Following the latest reports from Spain they’ve taken to Twitter to discuss the possibility.

Arsenal have to do something in order to revive their fortunes. They have regressed in recent years and Arteta has a big job on his hands.

Will Arsenal get Odegaard?

It really is too early to say, although the latest reports claim that they’ll certainly be trying.

Odegaard seemed to enjoy his time at the football club and he’d have relished the first-team opportunities.

At 22, playing is the best thing for him. If Arsenal can guarantee that on a frequent basis, he’d be foolish not to consider a return.

During the 2019/20 campaign, Odegaard shone during a loan spell with Real Sociedad. He scored seven goals and claimed nine assists for the La Liga side.

As a result, the proof is in the pudding when it comes to his capabilities with a full pre-season under his belt.

Going into Arsenal at the midway point of 2020/21 was always going to be tricky but his performances were okay.

Supporters would certainly welcome him back and they’ve take to Twitter to discuss the latest reports.
