Arsenal and Tottenham have now scouted ‘powerful’ 24-year-old who’s still at the World Cup – journalist
The World Cup has provided the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur the perfect opportunity to watch their transfer targets.
The January transfer window is now approaching, with plenty of clubs targeting new signings.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta now has to solve the conundrum of losing Gabriel Jesus to injury.
A short-term option would be ideal, with Memphis Depay one player they’re currently considering.
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte would also like to add an attacking player to his ranks.
He doesn’t want a repeat of their downturn in form when Dejan Kulusevski was injured.
However, Jones believes both clubs are also considering defensive options in the market too.
He suggests that Arsenal and Spurs have both scouted Monaco defender Axel Disasi.
The centre-back, who can also play on the right, is being watched by both north London sides.
Arsenal and Tottenham have scouted Disasi
Writing on Give Me Sport, Jones said: “Axel Disasi is another player to look out for.
“He plays as a defender for Monaco and has been scouted by the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham, sources say.”
Disasi is currently part of Didier Deschamps’ France squad at the World Cup.
He started at right-back during their 1-0 defeat to Tunisia, and came on as a last-minute substitute against Poland.
Described as a ‘powerful’ defender, Disasi was uncapped going into the tournament in Qatar.
He’s been ever-present for Monaco this season, and already has a goal and three assists to his name.
Decent in the air, and very good at reading the game in front of him, his performances have earned him plenty of fans.
The fact that Arsenal and Spurs have both scouted Disasi is a very positive sign for the Frenchman.
Spurs were linked with Disasi in the summer, and he could end up being a replacement for Davinson Sanchez.
Arsenal will be hoping William Saliba can give them the full lowdown on his France teammate.
While Tottenham will want captain Hugo Lloris to do the same for them.
