Report: Spurs set sights on 'powerful and very tall' CB who's been compared to Thiago Silva
Spurs are currently looking to bolster their defensive ranks and are reportedly eyeing a number of centre-backs.
Football.london’s Alasdair Gold recently reported that Antonio Conte wants two new centre-halves at Tottenham.
Spurs are reportedly eyeing the likes of Alessandro Bastoni, Pau Torres, Marc Guehi, Gleison Bremer and Clement Lenglet.
Now, Marca has reported that Tottenham have ‘returned’ to the race for Disasi, alongside Atletico Madrid.
The 24-year-old, who has three caps for France’s U20s, has been impressing for Monaco for the past two seasons.
This has led to interest from clubs in Europe, with Atletico reportedly enquiring over Disasi.
Tottenham have also ‘returned’ to the picture after showing an interest in the past.
Spurs have reportedly made it clear they are ‘interested’ in Disasi’s situation.
They have apparently been keeping tabs on him for two years and like his profile ‘a lot’.
Tottenham eyeing Axel Disasi – profile
When Disasi swapped Reims for Monaco in 2020, the Ligue 1 website wrote an in-depth feature article about him.
Regarding his style of play, they wrote: ‘Disasi is powerful and very tall, at 1.90 metres.
‘Strong in the tackle and with excellent timing, he is a right-sided centre-back who growing up modelled himself on Thiago Silva.
‘There is a touch of Silva’s reading of the game, although Disasi remains raw and will still want to improve with his use of the ball.
‘His height and physicality also make him a weapon at set-pieces, as proven by his header six yards out from a corner in Monaco’s recent win at Nice.’
Former Monaco boss Niko Kovac, meanwhile, said: “Axel is an excellent young player who is developing and working very hard.
“He is also a strong man with lots of character. He has many leadership qualities.
“I know there are lots of very good players in his position in France, but I think he is the future of the national team.”
