Arne Slot’s risky Liverpool tactics that leave them ‘exposed’ questioned by Jurgen Klopp

Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has piled on the praise, but also questioned Arne Slot after some of his fantastic results in the Premier League and Champions League this season.

Apart from a Crystal Palace loss at the weekend for Liverpool, it’s been a chaotic and successful start to Arne Slot’s second campaign in charge.

The Reds sit top of the Premier League, scoring countless late goals to send Anfield into bedlam – despite being just six games in.

This is something that former manager Jurgen Klopp has had his say on.

Jurgen Klopp questions Arne Slot’s offensive Liverpool approach

Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, Klopp spoke out on Liverpool and their form this season. He initially stated that the style the Reds boss is playing is “really, really good”.

Klopp begins: “Liverpool is playing a specific [style], so really, really good. Very offensively oriented.”

The German went on to state that Slot’s very attacking mindset runs the risk of them being ‘exposed.’

He continues: “Do they take a risk, a little bit of being exposed? Different ways to go, let me say it like that. I’m not the pope of football who tells people what to do. At least not outside the Red Bull world.”

Klopp does have a point. Liverpool’s new ‘all-out attack’ approach is, on one hand, massively exciting, but it doesn’t half come with risks.

Liverpool have conceded in all but two games they’ve played this season, so it’s a very high-risk, high-reward strategy.

Klopp lauds Pep Guardiola at Manchester City

Klopp also joked about Man United, but did pile praise on the neighbours and one of his old Premier League foes, Pep Guardiola, even calling him a ‘genius.’

“City is on the way back, they change a little bit. Managers need that as well… a new way of looking at things to keep it fresh.

“But then I tell Pep [Guardiola] – he improved his [golf] handicap with age! I didn’t have a f—— minute of time to play golf! So that’s why he’s a genius and I am not.”

The legendary manager is a figure that is dearly missed in England’s top flight, but it’s nice to see he still keeps aligned with the league in all his new ventures.
