Manchester United’s struggles in the Premier League continue, as the side look to bounce back from their slump in the post-Ferguson era.
The Red Devils have struggled to be competitive in recent years, as their decline has seen them move from Premier League and Champions League contenders to staving off relegation.
Last season saw Manchester United hit a new low, as they finished 15th in the league and fell to defeat in the Europa League final.
With such a slow start to this season, Ruben Amorim is facing an uphill task with United, one that he is still just about battling.
At the same time as Man United’s decline, there has been the rise of some of their greatest rivals.
That includes Liverpool, who began a rebuild under Jurgen Klopp and turned into one of the best teams in the world.
Now, all those years on, the former Reds manager is still seemingly poking fun at Man United.

Jurgen Klopp laughs at Manchester United’s downfall in Red Bull interview
Over the years, Jurgen Klopp has done plenty to delight Liverpool fans, and perhaps even more to frustrate Manchester United fans.
With plenty of trophies lifted in his time at Anfield, the German coach ended up calling time on his stay at the club in 2024.
Despite it being over a year since he left the position, the former Liverpool man still has that little bit of rivalry with Man United within him, it would seem.
Speaking to The Athletic about his switch to the Red Bull group as the Head of Global Soccer, he said: “We are not the final destination.”
Before swiping at the Red Devils with: “We are not Liverpool… or in former times Man United!” before the article detailed his laughter at the comment. He added: “You can write that if you want.”
It shows there is still that little bit of rivalry towards Man United still in there for Klopp, even after moving on.
However, it shows just how far the club have fallen that others would feel so comfortable in taking a swipe at their demise.

Jurgen Klopp’s record vs Manchester United
During his managerial career so far, Jurgen Klopp has faced off with Manchester United the 11th-most of any team.
The rivalry is deep-rooted after many years of facing off against them, with plenty of wins coming out for either side.
| Matches | Wins | Draws | Defeats |
|---|---|---|---|
| 21 | 7 | 9 | 5 |
With seven wins in 21 meetings, Manchester United often held their own against the Reds in previous meetings.
Klopp failed to register a win in any of his final three meetings with the Red Devils, but his final victory against them was a 7-0 drubbing in March 2023.
