Premier League legend Ian Wright has claimed that Liverpool are not out of the title race yet. Fellow pundit Lianne Sanderson was very surprised.
Liverpool failed to retain their crown last season after an injury-hit campaign. They started this term with the hope of pipping Manchester City to the crown, but Pep Guardiola’s side have just been too good so far.
The Cityzens are on top of the table at the moment, nine points ahead of Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s side have a game in hand, but it’s still a big difference to overcome for the Reds.
However, Wright believes Liverpool are still in with a chance of winning the Premier League this season.
Ian Wright thinks Liverpool could still win the PL
Speaking about the title race, the Arsenal legend claimed on The Kelly & Wrighty Show this week: “I still think Liverpool believe that they might be able to still do it.
“I fancy that Liverpool will probably think they can do the Champions League as well. I’m not going to write Liverpool off, I’m going to go with Liverpool (to win the Premier League this season).”
Sanderson, who played for the Arsenal, Chelsea and the England Women’s team in the past, couldn’t quite believe what she had just heard.
“Nah, nah. Are you alright today, are you alright?” she said looking at Wright.

TBR View:
Football is a funny game and stranger things have happened in the past, but it’s still really difficult to see Manchester City give up the advantage that they have at the moment.
However, if Liverpool win their game in hand, they’ll just be six points behind the Cityzens. If they maintain that gap until the two sides meet in April, they’ll have a chance to cut it down to three.
That would then set up an incredible end to the season, but City will still be the favourites to win the Premier League.
