Andre Onana attracting interest in two countries as Manchester United exit still possible

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League, TBR Football understands.

Manchester United focused on attacking signings in the summer transfer window, landing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.

Ruben Amorim brought in one more signing on deadline day, as goalkeeper Senne Lammens arrived from Royal Antwerp.

Emiliano Martinez was waiting for a call from United on deadline day, but the Argentinian is staying at Aston Villa after United chose Lammens.

Thibaut Courtois is a big fan of Lammens, and the Belgian stopper has joined Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana at Old Trafford.

Bayindir has started all three of United’s Premier League games this season, with Onana starting against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.

Manchester United’s Andre Onana attracting Saudi Arabian interest

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that the Saudi Pro League are showing an interest in Onana, and there are options for the Cameroon international to move to the Middle East.

Onana was told in August that United would be bringing in a new goalkeeper, and they did just that with Lammens arriving from Royal Antwerp on deadline day.

As it stands, Onana could very well be facing up to the prospect of being United’s No 3, with Turkish international Altay already ahead of him in the pecking order.

With that, United have informed Onana that he can find a new club, with a loan the most likely, but United are open to a sale if possible.

A number of clubs in Turkiye, including Galatasaray, have shown an interest, but we can confirm that interest is growing in Saudi Arabia.

We can reveal that Al-Shabab are one of the clubs that have room and are keen, whilst there are other interested parties.

Al-Ittihad are keen, but are currently at the maximum of their foreign quota and need to move someone out before they can consider bringing in Onana.

Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr are both considering changing their current foreign goalkeepers, which could also see them make an offer for Onana.

When does the transfer window close in Saudi Arabia?

The transfer window closed in England on Monday night, but the market is still open in other countries.

Saudi Arabia is one such country, with the transfer market still open to Saudi Pro League clubs until 10 September.

That presents Saudi Arabian clubs with almost a week to get deals done, opening up a potential exit route for Onana.

The market also remains open in Türkiye until 11 September, with Onana attracting interest from both countries.
