RB Leipzig central defender Josko Gvardiol has been a transfer target for Tottenham but is close to joining Chelsea.
Gvardiol helped his side overcome reigning European champions Real Madrid 3-2 in the Champions League last night.
The defender actually opened the scoring as the Germans stunned Carlo Ancelotti’s side, inflicting a first defeat of the season.
And journalist Matteo Moretto claims that he is very close to joining Chelsea, with negotiations at a ‘very advanced’ stage now.

Tottenham target Gvardiol set to join Chelsea
Tottenham need a new elite central defender and Clement Lenglet is only a temporary solution in that position as he is on loan from Barcelona.
They have been linked with Gvardiol, but it seems that Graham Potter is about to get him to bolster his defence at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester City reportedly made a bid in August, but saw it turned down and table-toppers Arsenal have also been linked with him too.
It has been reported that Gvardiol has a £43.6 million release clause active from this coming summer, which is a much more affordable rate than has been quoted in the past for him.
Gvardiol was managed by current Leeds United manager during his time at Leipzig, and the American called the defender ‘world class’.
It certainly seems like he is on the path to that level, but Tottenham are likely to need to take their central defensive search somewhere else if he moves to Chelsea, as is now expected.
