Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has admitted that the Reds have a player whose fitness levels are a source of inspiration for the rest of the team.
Liverpool have made a wonderful start to the new season, winning all of their Premier League games and also triumphing in their Champions League opener.
The Reds did not rest on their laurels after winning the Premier League title last season, investing heavily in their squad over the summer.
However, the player Alexis Mac Allister is looking up to in terms of fitness is one who has been at Anfield for quite a while.

Alexis Mac Allister says he hopes to reach Mohamed Salah’s fitness levels
Mac Allister was interviewed by a Liverpool fan on Sky Sports and he was asked a number of questions about himself, the Reds, and Argentina.
The Argentine was asked about what Liverpool icon Mohamed Salah is like behind the scenes, and he said the Reds forward takes amazing care of himself.
“Everything he does is quite special and that’s why he’s always in this shape physically and mentally,” said Mac Allister.
“I think there’s a couple of things that he doesn’t want to tell us and he hides, but we can see the way he works on and off the pitch, especially in the gym.
“He’s in there every day taking care of his body. These are the small details that make the difference.
“We are so happy to have him and I learn from him every single day, and one day I want to get to his level in terms of the way he takes care of his body.”
What Arne Slot has said about Mohamed Salah amid criticism
Salah doesn’t need to prove anything to anybody in the wake of what he has done at Liverpool since his move back in 2017, including recently.
But despite this – and despite his three goals and two assists this season – he has come under criticism for how he has fared so far this term.
At the start of September, Troy Deeney said Salah had been “terrible”.
Arne Slot has now hit back at Salah’s critics, sticking up for the 33-year-old ahead of the Merseyside derby.
“Now, for me, when you are a great player, you still attribute to the team if you don’t play well,” said Slot.
“So many players can attribute goals or assists when they play well, but not a lot of them can attribute something to the team when they don’t play well.
“And with attribute, I mean goals and assists, so they can always give their work rate.
“But this is what stands out with Mo, I think even, and which is normal, especially if you’re a winger, it’s so difficult to always be creative, or always be the player he was against Atletico Madrid.
“But if he’s not that player, which is normal, then he still has goals and assists.”
