It’s been a strange start to the season for Liverpool.

Indeed, the Reds have a perfect winning record in the Premier League so far, but their performances to this point have left a lot to be desired.

Liverpool may be top of the league, but they have won each of their three games with late goals, and it has been a case of fine margins so far this term.

Speaking on The Sports Agents Podcast, Troy Deeney has been discussing Liverpool’s start to this campaign, and he says one Liverpool player has been ‘terrible’ this season, but nobody is speaking about it.

Mohamed Salah has been ‘terrible’ this season

Deeney spoke about Salah and his form so far this season.

The pundit says Salah was not good against Arsenal at the weekend, and he says that’s been a trend in each of the first three games so far.

Salah has been criticised at times, but Deeney says he almost feels as though he can’t discuss this due to the fact Salah has been such a reliable goalscorer in recent years.

“Salah was very poor on the day as well. We’re not allowed to talk about that because Mo Salah scores goals, but he’s been terrible this season so far. And they haven’t finished their transfer business, but we still don’t lose games,” Deeney said.

Deeney says Salah has been ‘terrible’ so far this season, but that does seem to be a bit harsh.

Yes, Salah hasn’t been at his best. After all, Salah was in Ballon d’Or winning form last year, but he’s still having big impacts on games.

Salah scored on the opening day of the season, while his late assist against Newcastle secured a vital win for Liverpool.

Two goal contributions in three games is hardly a ‘terrible’ return, and after almost a decade of incredible performances for Liverpool, it feels like it would only be fair to cut Salah a bit of slack for a three-game dip in form.
